I got so riveted by it that when I discovered a second airing on KLRU2 on the same day, I tuned in again.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0375708111\/musicwhoreorg-20\">book<\/a> by Brian Greene, <i>The Elegant Universe<\/i> explains <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/String_theory\">string theory<\/a> in a way not unlike <a href=\"http:\/\/www.altonbrown.com\/\">Alton Brown&#8217;s<\/a> explanation of food science on <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/food\/show_ea\">Good Eats<\/a><\/i>. Greene, who also hosts the program, breaks the theory down for the non-scientific audience, and the special effects are a lot more pronounced than most PBS science documentaries. The show is also pretty suspenseful.<\/p>\n<p>I had thought about doing the cheap thing and trying to tape the show off my VCR, but it&#8217;s available on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0000ZG0TA\/musicwhoreorg-20\">DVD<\/a>, so I figure I&#8217;ll just be a big old nerd and add it to my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?tag=musicwhoreorg-20&amp;path=registry\/F1P3A26CS3U2HS\/\">wish list<\/a>.
