That&#8217;s probably a better gauge on how little the awards really affect my listening habits.<\/p>\n<p>Of all the winners from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grammy.com\/awards\/grammy\/46winners.aspx\">2004 awards<\/a>, the only albums I already possess are:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><b>OutKast, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1271\">Speakerboxxx\/The Love Below<\/a><\/i><\/b> &#8212; OutKast deserved anything they won, but for all the ink spilled on how Andre 3000 made a <i>really, really<\/i> far-out record, I don&#8217;t think neither he nor the Flaming Lips could ever imagine anything that sounds like Shiina Ringo&#8217;s <i>Karuki Zaamen Kuri no Hana<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Caf&eacute; Tacvba, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1222\">Cuatro Caminos<\/a><\/i><\/b> &#8212; Molotov&#8217;s <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1199\">Dance and Dense Denso<\/a><\/i> and Yerba Buena&#8217;s <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1273\">President Alien<\/a><\/i> were both nominated in the same category (Best Latin Alternative Album). All three deserved an award.<\/p>\n<p><b>Kronos Quartet with Dawn Upshaw, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1278\">Alban Berg: Lyric Suite<\/a><\/i><\/b> &#8212; Kronos Quartet tends to win Grammys for albums I don&#8217;t really like. And this isn&#8217;t even an album &#8212; it&#8217;s a <i>single<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Missy Elliott, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1076\">Work It<\/a>&#8220;<\/b> &#8212; This song is <i>so<\/i> 2002.<\/p>\n<p><b>Various artists, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1240\">The Neptunes Present &#8230; Clones<\/a><\/i><\/b> &#8212; Hell ya, they&#8217;re the producers of the year.<\/p>\n<p>So &#8212; given all that intersection, does this mean I&#8217;m getting into hip-hop?<\/p>\n<p>Miscellaneous comments &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> I&#8217;m <i>so<\/i> happy Evanescence won the Grammy for Best New Artist.
