So I went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00008XRSX\/musicwhoreorg-20\">Amazon<\/a> to listen to some audio clips.<\/p>\n<p>Bizarre. One of the reviewers called it Tiny Tim meets Mannheim Steamroller. I knew Kronos was fair game for anything &#8212; hell, it slummed with Dave Matthews and Nelly Furtado &#8212; but something as unsettling as <i>The Gorey End<\/i>? It&#8217;s both unsurprising and startling.<\/p>\n<p>And how is it I hadn&#8217;t even heard about this collaboration? For starts, Kronos doesn&#8217;t even list it in its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kronosquartet.org\/discog.htm\">discography<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Something else that surprised me &#8212; three of the nominees in the Latin Alternative album category are albums I reviewed favorably in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/\">Musicwhore.org<\/a>, two of them esconed safely on my year-end favorite list.<\/p>\n<p>(If you&#8217;re curious, the albums in question are Molotov&#8217;s <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicwhore.org\/reviews\/review.php?albumID=1199\">Dance and Dense Denso<\/a><\/i>, Caf<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Grammy nominations were announced today, and I was so ready to unleash the snark.
