{"id":148,"date":"2006-09-22T22:24:01","date_gmt":"2006-09-22T22:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.gregbueno.com\/wp\/sakufu\/2006\/09\/22\/damn\/"},"modified":"2006-09-22T22:24:01","modified_gmt":"2006-09-22T22:24:01","slug":"damn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gregbueno.com\/sakufu\/2006\/09\/22\/damn\/","title":{"rendered":"Damn!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If I hadn&#8217;t done a Google search for &quot;windows boot external hard drive&quot;, I wouldn&#8217;t have come across <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infopackets.com\/channels\/en\/windows\/gazette\/2006\/20060217_use_external_hard_drive_to_boot_windows_incase_c_drive_crashes.htm\">this article<\/a> which mentioned <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infopackets.com\/channels\/en\/windows\/gazette\/2005\/20050323_acronis_true_image_8_0_review.htm\">Acronis True Image<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a complete stranger to the concept of drive images &#8212; my department at work uses them all the time &#8212; but it wasn&#8217;t until I faced my own backup needs did I need to create an image of my drive.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>So I put my old drive back in the machine, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acronis.com\/homecomputing\/download\/trueimage\/\">downloaded<\/a> Acronis True Image, installed it, hooked in my new drive with the hard disk enclosure and had the software clone my old drive to the new one.<\/p>\n<p>An hour later, I got the disk transfer I had been trying to accomplish in the last three days.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I had already reinstalled all my programs, but this morning, I attempted to read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kvue.com\/allergy\/\">KVUE allergy report<\/a>, and my browser would crash every time. I suspected it was Flash, but every time I tried to reinstall it, the installer would fizzle out.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t want installation bugs popping up at unexpected moments &#8212; I wanted my old drive copied to my new drive.<\/p>\n<p>And now I do.<\/p>\n<p>I would so love to buy a license for it, but it costs $44.95.
