I’ve said it time again: I’m not a movie person, but television is my drug of choice.
So when I was bouncing around Google looking for DVD release dates for the fourth and fifth seasons of Star Trek Voyager, I discovered this site: TVShowsOnDVD.com.
It lists release dates for TV DVDs months in advance, so I discovered a number of gems. To wit:
- The release date for the second season of Six Feet Under was pushed back to July 6. Grrrr. I don’t have HBO, so I haven’t seen anything past season one.
- Star Trek Voyager Season 3 comes out on July 6, with Season 4 coming out on Aug 3. I’m waiting for Season 5, which has Timeless, the episode where Garrett Wang flashes the sexy.
- Boomtown Season 1 hits stores on July 20. I would have thought they could fit the entire series in one set? Season 2 consists only of six episodes.
- Homicide Season 5 arrives Aug 24. I haven’t even bought Season 4, let alone finished watching Season 3. Arrgh!
- In a strange twist, the next set of Law and Order DVDs to hit stores in September will be the most recent seasons. In this case, season 14 for L&O: TOS, season 5 for L&O: SVU and season 3 for L&O: CI.
Of the three, I’d probably spend cash on the SVU season 5 set before the others. BD Wong is guaranteed to be on it. And however much I’d love a DVD set with Jesse L. Martin on it, I’m not inclined to drop money on a set with the FemmeBot on it. Elisabeth Röhm doesn’t suck as much as she did when she first started out, but she’s no Jill Hennessey. Hell, she’s not even Carrie Lowell.
During Memorial Day weekend, Bravo aired a West Wing marathon, and it made me want to buy the second season on DVD. A copy had been sitting on the shelf at the store the entire weekend, but when I went to buy it the following day, someone had beat me to the punch.
Not to worry — it was restocked later in the week, and I spent Friday night watching the extras.
